Background & Mastery

Born in Xi’an, China, Chao underwent rigorous classical training, earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in fine arts. After establishing a career in academia and design, he transitioned to watercolour and later relocated to Sydney, Australia. Over the past decade, Chao has emerged as an international force, claiming more than 60 major global prizes — including First Prize at IWM in the UK and Canada’s prestigious A.J. Casson Award.
